Despite policies promoting gender inclusivity, there are pervasive disparities in equal opportunity, treatment, recruitment, and promotion. These inequalities hinder the overall effectiveness and morale within the command, creating barriers to professional growth for female officers. The research accentuates the potent and vast need for extensive and far-reaching policy reforms and practical implementation strategies to confront these gender-based challenges, fostering a more equitable and efficient police force. The primary objective was to determine whether gender equality influences the organisation's performance metrics. Four hypotheses focused on equal opportunity, equal treatment, recruitment, and promotion policy as sub-variables affecting organisational performance. A multiple regression statistical analysis was conducted using data collected from 240 distributed questionnaires to test these hypotheses empirically. The results indicate that equal opportunity (0.37) and equal treatment (0.35) holds no significant effect on the performance of the Eleyele Police Command.
Conversely, recruitment policy (0.04) and promotion policy (0.02) significantly positively affecte organisational performance. The findings suggest that while general principles of equal opportunity and treatment are essential, specific policies related to recruitment and promotion play a more vital standpoint in enhancing the performance of the police command. These results highlight the necessity for targeted policy interventions that prioritise fair recruitment and promotion practices to improve organisational outcomes. In conclusion, for police commands and similar organisations, it is recommended to focus on refining recruitment and promotion policies to ensure gender equality and enhance performance. Define clear, transparent pathways for career advancement and ensure all officers know the criteria and opportunities.
